What is NEXTPEDITION?
NEXTPEDITION is a custom-made mystery trip specifically designed around your Travel Sign.

How does it work?
Every NEXTPEDITION begins with the Travel Profiler – a sharable, free quiz that distills your personality and interests into a Travel Sign. Our NEXTPEDITION Specialists use your Travel Sign to help craft a NEXTPEDITION just for you. You receive a mobile device called the Travel Console, to use on your trip. Day by day, the Travel Console reveals portions of your itinerary like destinations and activities. That's where the mystery comes in.

What is a Travel Sign?
The Travel Sign embodies characteristics of the type of traveler you are and is determined by taking the Travel Profiler. It helps your NEXTPEDITION Specialist create a custom trip based on your personality and interests.

If I take the Travel Profiler, am I obligated to purchase a trip?
Not at all. But you will find your Travel Sign, which will help reveal what type of traveler you are. After that, you can talk with a NEXTPEDITION Specialist if you choose. Based on your Travel Sign and a few more questions, they will create a custom trip just for you.

Who plans each NEXTPEDITION?
NEXTPEDITION Specialists are top American Express Travel counselors who draw on their extensive travel experience to plan your custom trip and ensure you have a memorable experience.

What happens if I request a consultation with a NEXTPEDITION Specialist?
As soon as you request a consultation, your info will be passed along to one of our NEXTPEDITION Specialists who will call or e-mail you within three (3) business days.

If I request a consultation, am I obligated to purchase a trip?
Not at all. After you request a consultation, your NEXTPEDITION Specialist will reach out to you to get more information about your travel preferences and budget. After which, a package price will be delivered to you. If you like what you see, you can finalize and purchase your NEXTPEDITION.

What is the Travel Console?
The Travel Console is a device that's also your travel guide. It will inspire you to go places and do things you wouldn't normally do. Day by day, it will reveal your itinerary, recommend cool spots to check out and allow you to easily broadcast your adventures to your followers back home.

When do I get the Travel Console?
Your Travel Console will arrive in your dossier within one week prior to departure.

What is the dossier?
About a week before your trip begins, you'll receive a dossier that includes all of the essential elements for your journey – the Travel Console, your travel vouchers and information on how your trip will unfold.

What is the Travel Log?
The Travel Log is a feature in the Travel Console that allows you to share posts, photos and videos with family and friends in real time on Facebook™. This lets others share the excitement as your mystery trip unfolds.

Where will you send me?
Destinations for trips include a variety of locations within the US and Canada, as well as several cities in Europe. Your NEXTPEDITION Specialist will select cities that best suit your Travel Sign, interests and budget.

What can I expect on my mystery activities?
Your mystery activities are cleverly crafted just for you. We take both your personality and interests into account when scheduling these daily activities to create a more memorable, and often surprising, travel experience.

How will I know how to prepare for my trip? What to pack? What documents will I need?
Prior to your trip, you will receive an e-mail with all of the information you need about packing, documentation and any other special requirements.

Do I have the option to travel by myself or in a group?
Yes, you may book a trip for yourself or book a trip for you and invite additional guests to travel with you.

How much will the trip cost and what does it include?
Each trip is based on your budget. When you speak to your NEXTPEDITION Specialist, they will compile all of your budget and travel preferences and come back to you with a package price, which will include round-trip airfare, hotels, mystery activities and ground airport transfers if you request them. How do I pay for my trip?
Upon planning your trip, your NEXTPEDITION Specialist will send you a final bill, which you can pay via cash, check, or credit card at the American Express Travel Service Office in Cambridge, Massachusetts. You can also pay over the phone with a credit card.

Can I book extra nights of hotel accommodations before or after my trip?
No. Because this is a mystery trip, everything is planned once you purchase the trip. But, that's part of the fun.

What if I'm not ready for a NEXTPEDITION?

Are there any other booking terms I should know about NEXTPEDITION?
Yes. 30-day-advance booking and a 7-day minimum stay are required.
